Open a letter. open a doorway to horror.

Dead Letter Dispatches is a serialized horror collection where the stories are told through twenty-four mailed letters over the course of a year.

Each edition of Dead Letter Dispatches pulls you into a new location—a hollowed-out creek town, a rotten carnival, a forgotten house, a cabin in the woods—where someone is trapped in a darker, distorted version of once familiar places. Their only connection to the living world is you.

But the more you read, the more the places learn your name.

The locals vanish. The roads change. The water whispers. And yet the letters keep coming.

Every dispatch is a cry for help. Every letter is a warning. And every new reader brings the darkness one step closer.

Some places don't stay dead. They write.

happy to meet you!

The Buried Secret Co. is owned and operated by publisher and editor Lyndsey Smith and her husband, Daniel—a proud military family with a deep love for horror. While they live for a good scare, their true purpose lies in service, community, and creating impact where it matters most. They actively support veterans experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic abuse, and first responders, using their passion for storytelling and creating fear as a force for meaningful, positive change.

Are These Giftable?

Absolutely! That's a great idea and the perfect way to show the horror/thriller/true-crime lover in your life that you're thinking about them all year. Be sure to let us know about your special day so we can start your first mailing for that projected date.

Are these available outside the U.S.?

Yes! As a military family, we've traveled the world, and we would love to share the Dead Letter Dispatch editions with our friends in other countries. In fact, we'd love to know where you're from! Be sure to give us a shoutout on social media.

Will I owe anything else?

If you purchase our year-long subscription at $99.99, absolutely not. Once you've purchased your edition of the Dead Letter Dispatch, that's it! You're set for the entire year. If you sign up for the monthly subscription option, you will be charged $12.99 on the same day of each month for twelve months.

How does shipping work?

Your first letter will be sent out immediately. Each Dead Letter Dispatch installment after that is mailed around the 15th and the last day of each month. The exact date will depend on the post office's schedule. That is twenty-four letters in total! Getting the mail will never be the same again. Each envelope is marked, so if you ever find that you've missed a sequence, just let us know, and we'll get another envelope out to you quickly!
